Position Announcements
Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbial Ecology
Position available immediately in the School of Biology at
Georgia Tech for participation in microbiological research
centering on the ecology and biogeochemistry of sedimentary
microorganisms. Our group is especially interested in the
microbial mediation of the carbon, nitrogen, and metal cycles.
Ongoing projects include the: 1) rates, pathways, and controls
of nitrate respiration and N removal, 2) response of coastal
ecosystems to oil hydrocarbons from the Deepwater Horizon
oil spill, and 3) composition of decomposer microbial
communities in response to climatic forcings that determine
carbon storage and sequestration in northern peatlands.
Duties will include field and laboratory research as part of an
active, multidisciplinary group. Training and experience in
microbiology is required. Preference will be given to
applicants with a Ph.D. and laboratory experience as well as
those with experience in microbial community analysis using
molecular biology techniques and/ or the cultivation of
anaerobic prokaryotes. The salary is negotiable, will be
commensurate with experience, and will include full benefits.
